White House taps William LaPlante as undersecretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment.
On Tuesday, the White House announced the nomination of former Air Force chief of acquisition William LaPlante to the position of undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment. The role as weapons buyer for the Pentagon has been vacant and the last nominee withdrew his nomination in July.
The White House stated that LaPlante is “a seasoned national security leader with nearly four decades of experience in acquisition, technology, sustainment, and the defense industrial base.” The administration also said that LaPlante “has spent much of those decades delivering material as well as conceptual innovations to enhance national security capabilities and efficiency.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For officials in the Pentagon as they await confirmation of the acquisition nominee.
- For members of the Senate as they consider William LaPlante’s appointment.
- For the president to seek God’s discernment as he nominates officials to federal posts.
